Book 45: Making Waves by Lorna SeilstadMarguerite Westing is a woman who, while living in 1895, is really ready to be living in a more modern age. She is full of life, and doesn't like to be told a woman can't do something. This time it's sailing she discovers on the shores of Lake Manawa, where her family is camping for the summer. Knowing that she herself can't ask for lessons she convinces her brother Mark to want to learn how to sail. In the process she comes across a man that might change the course of her life. The problem is she is all but engaged to another man. A boring man, as she refers to him.
When her family gets into trouble though, it's that boring man that might be the way out of their peril. Who should she pursue? Will she follow her head and protect her family or her heart and find true love. The story had many interesting plot lines. Just when I thought I'd figured out what would happen another curve was thrown.
I'd give the book 4 stars. A great summer read!
