You can't win them all!

Spent an hour and a half at the rink tonight with my 7 year old. He skated up and down ice, played right wing, but definitely had the look of a 2 way player the majority of the game. It's difficult to be in your first year of hockey and wanting desperately to win games. He's on a young team, they try so hard, and they have definitely improved over the course of this short season. They have an incredible coach who encourages them and tries to teach them about the game.
Our little #19 just seems to have a feel for what is going on. He plays end to end hockey every time he is on the ice. At one point he was trying to power through 3 players on the other team at the blue line. One did get called for interference but at that age they don't play short handed, or go into the penalty box unless it's really serious. He did keep plugging away. Dumped it into the corner to himself. Skated down the right side of the goalie, battled along the boards and then wrapped it behind the goal and stuck it in on the goalie's left side. He just keep chipping away until it went in. He was so excited. Turned out to be the only goal for his team. Score is not suppose to matter at this age, but unfortunately to 7 year olds it usually does some. At least he can say he put one up on the scoreboard.
